Lake Powell Aug 8-15, 2008

This is part of the gang on Halls Ferry crossing over to Halls Marina, it was not cheap!
We paid for 1 van & 1 truck w/boat=$75.00 one way, but it saved 1 1/2 hours driving time & all that gas; besides, it was kinda fun. It was really hot the week we went to Powell, we spent most of our time in the water.
Gracie enjoying the beach.
Jack so intent on playing with his bucket of water.
Maggie doing water aerobics.
Garrett having a good time...more photos to come.

My Garden & stuff

This is my vegetable garden-4 tomato plants, along the west side of my yard; a honeysuckle plant on both sides. Really, I don't have a lot of free time, & these are pretty easy, other than an occasional pinching off of shoots here & there & watering.

This is for Jennifer- see how I just snipped off the top of the plant, just above the last flowers, & also notice the pinch off between the main stem of the plant & the branch.

Another view of a pinch off. This helps the plant concentrate on making bigger & better tomatoes(sure, sounds good to me!).
This next photo is of the window sill in the new family room. Builder Mike layed/laid the tile in the fall & we just never got around to grouting it. Well, last Sat, I took a tiling class at Home Depot, I thought...Hey this doesn't look too hard...Well...those HD guys sure make it look simple. It was a little more tricky than I was expecting, but it turned out ok. I'm sure not giving up my day job to become a tiler, that's for sure. I'm definitely looking forward to Jenn & Aaron coming at Thanksgiving to help with all the tile we are going to be doing- the shower, sink, floor, around tub & partially on the wall.

OK- This is my artsy picture. The sun was shining on the little red flowers & I was hoping to catch it just right without Photoshop.

More pictures of bathroom construction...

Plumbing...

Builder Mike busy working with his torch & copper tubing, doing the plumbers thing.

This is the top of the shower. Notice the slight archway to the doorway. Also brushed nickel arm for the shower head.

This next picture is inside the shower. This is a "niche" that Builder Mike built in to the shower wall. It actually has a 2nd little shelf under the bigger one, good place for shampoos, soap, etc...

This is a shot from the outside of the shower.

Just the guts to the inside of the shower controller.
Just wait till the whole thing is done-it will look fantastic!

Stuff

This is the sink we chose for the upstairs bathroom. It's hammered copper. It's different & kinda cool.

This is the shower head. All of the faucets & stuff are brushed nickel. There will be another photo of the shower where this shower head will attach to.

This is our family room, I just dusted & cleaned the leather sofas & I think it looks so nice & cozy. I can't wait till the rest of the house is done.

Garrett

Garrett showing off his athletic skills in the backyard.

Now he's flyin down the slipNslide

Homemade water slide...

And finally, Grandpa Mike or also known as Builder Mike taking a break watching the kids have fun in the sun in our lovely backyard.

Gracie

The many faces of Gracie! She can hold her own with her brothers!
In fact-she kinda causes most of the commotion, doesn't she look like an angel...

Jack

Backyard fun. We had the kids for the day & we got out the slipNslide out & both pools. Couldn't post all kids at once, so a few of each of them.

More Choices

This is the faucet for the tub, it will be mounted probably in the tile next to the tub. It's brushed nickel. It's not the best picture, but in real life, it looks good.

This iis the faucet for the sink. We haven't picked out the sink yet, we're looking at hammered copper, not too sure.

This is the tile we picked out at Home Depot. It's something we both agreed on. I want to add some additional colored tiles scattered throughout. So, we're still looking. There are soooo many choices out there.

Did you notice I'm on a roll, 2 more blogs in the same week...

Some Choices

This is the tub we chose. The color is biscuit. Lots of jets & a colorwheel, also has a heating element to keep the water warm.

Another view.

This is where the tub will go. Builder Mike has been pouring this stuff to level the floor

This is where the shower will go. Also starting to level out the floor. Looks like some progress!

more of the house

Builder Mike making duct work. Notice my dining table-at least it's protected. We GET to live like this for some time, it does get old, but I know what the finish result will be, & this definitely worth living through.
oops...this picture was meant to photo shop for my other blog "Bonnie's Gals".
Builder Mike working on the plumbing for the shower.
Hey- I'm busy working...sitting in the new shower.
Side view from the stairs-looking into the new bathroom.
More to come...

my raspberry plants

Just a couple of shots of my raspberry plants. Loaded again this year!

finally an update

These next batch of pictures will show the insides of a house. We had to change some ductwork while the ceilings were exposed. We moved the air intake from next to the smoke detector in hallway to the highest point of the vaulted ceiling in the kitchen. This was a bit warm! to say the least. You cannot believe how hot it gets in the attic space. Mike had to crawl around up there, I only had to stand on the ladder to help hold ductwork.
